Donald Sophus Martenson's Obituary
On August 7, 2019, Donald S. Martenson passed away peacefully at home in Beavercreek, Oregon at the age of 96. He was born on July 26, 1923, to Victor and Hulda Martenson in Boulder, Colorado. The family moved to Colton, Oregon during the depression. He graduated from Colton High School in 1941. During WWII, Don served with the 41st Sunset Division in the Pacific. Later Don was a carpenter by trade. On March 2, 1951 he married Marian Bluhm. The family moved to Madagascar where he worked as a builder for the Lutheran Mission. Returning to Oregon in 1963, he eventually moved to Beavercreek, Oregon. Don is survived by his wife, Marian (Bluhm), children Donald H, Blenda Tyvoll (Joe), Terry, David (Melissa), Cary (Krista), 7 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren.
Memorial contributions in his name may be made to Providence St. Vincent Medical Foundation for Heart Research (9205 SW Barnes Road, Portland, OR 97225).
