Donald Eugene Boling

Donald Eugene Boling 10/14/1930 - 2/4/2018 Today, Sunday, 02/04/2018, marks a Graduation To Glory for a very remarkable and well loved man, Donald Eugene Boling. Born October 14 (actually 15th being the second of twins but doctor talked parents into same birthday for the twins) in 1930 on my Grandfathers farm in rural Burlington, IA. Passed away today, Sunday, 02/04/2018 at about 5:30 am on the farm I was raised on outside Oregon City, OR where they have lived for about 60 years. Dad went to school in IA in the Yarmouth area and drove school bus while attending high school there. He served as a Heavy Equipment operator and then Fire Fighter in the Air Force during Korea. After discharge and marrying Betty Jo Margason in 1955 while stationed in Portland at the Air Base, they moved to IA close to my Grandfather Boling and farmed. When the farm sold out from under them they moved to OR where they bought the current farm and Dad became a Fire Fighter at Oak Lodge Fire Department Dist 51 between Gladstone and Milwaukee. This Department and many others later merged into a mega department for Clackamas County as District 1 where Oak Lodge is Station 3. During the next 30 years he fought fires, farmed, ranched, did custom farming, served on the school board, board of directors for the local telephone company, served on the board of directors (part of the time as Chairman) for what was then the Clackamas County Fire Dist 54 station in Redland (which also merged into Dist 1 as station 11) where we lived, and raised my sister, Vicki, and I. Since retirement from the Fire Department he spent the next 30 years travelling with Mom, farming, and being a great example in Godly living for his 2 children, 7 grandchildren, 13 great-grand children (14 & 15 on the way- both boys), and many other neighbors and acquaintances. To say he will be missed does not even begin to describe the feelings we have in this flesh. But in our spirit, heart, and mind we know he is in a far better place and there is rejoicing over another soul in the presence of the Lord. Above all, he is without pain and his memory is better than ever. There will not be a graveside service but we will let everyone know when there is a date for the Memorial Service/Graduation to Glory Ceremony. Please pray for Mom, Vicki, and I and our families as we work through this time and make preparations for the service. I got to go up there last week and spend a few days with Mom and Dad. I praise the Lord for the timing and our time together while Dad could understand who was around him and what was going on. During one conversation I got absolute confirmation of Dad's salvation and trust in the Lord for His work for his eternity.
