Dennis David Seifert's Obituary
Dennis David Seifert, 86, passed away on May 5, 2023. Cancer had taken much of his mobility, but he was enjoying cigars, drinking Budweiser and telling jokes almost right up to the end.
Dennis was born in Portland, Oregon, to John and Ann Seifert. He lived in Southeast Portland and graduated from Cleveland High School. In 1965 he and his wife, Diane, built a house on five acres in the country east of Oregon City. They were both able to live there until just a few years ago.
Dennis worked for ESCO Corporation, a prominent steel foundry in Northwest Portland. He started in the foundry. After displaying a knack for recognizing problems and figuring out how to fix them, he transferred to the Drafting department. He retired from ESCO as a Senior Design Engineer after 43 years.
In his younger years he was an avid snow skier. After marrying Diane and starting a family, they would all learn to ski too. Dennis and Diane also took up scuba diving and enjoyed travelling and diving all over the word. They both were also very involved with the Sidewinders Motorcycle Track and Kiwanis for many years.
Dennis was predeceased by Diane, his wife of 61 years, and his brothers; Ted and Ray. He is survived by his five daughters: Mary, Teresa, Marilyn, Suzanne, Nancy, 13 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at Holman-Hankins Funeral home in Oregon City on Saturday, June 24, at 2:00 pm. It was Dennis’s wish that in lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Mt. Hood Kiwanis Camp.
The Seifert family would like to express their appreciation to the Skilled Nursing staff of Avamere Rehabilitation of Oregon City and Kaiser Permanente Hospice for the excellent care given Dennis.
