Dennis Grey Olver passed away on Monday, July 11, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Edgewood, Kentucky, from complications after lung surgery.
Dennis was born April 30, 1944 in Tacoma, Washington, the son of John and Dessie (Russell) Olver. He attended Woodrow Wilson High School, in Tacoma. As a young man, Dennis greatly enjoyed bowling and working at the local bowling alley. Dennis attended one year at Washington State University, Pullman before coming home to help support his mother after his father’s passing.
Dennis loved working with computers. He began his career in the computer industry at the age of 19. He always said, “If you love what you do, you will never work a day in your life”. True to his words, he had a full career with Honeywell Computers before retiring, He went on to freelance with Fred Meyer (his main client at Honeywell) for 2 years before hiring on. He transferred to the Kroger Company in Blue Ash, Ohio after Kroger purchased the Fred Meyer store chain in 1999. Dennis retired from his position as Senior Systems Tech Advisor with Koger in April 2017.
Dennis loved reading, crosswords, his cats, and most of all, his wife and family.
Dennis is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Joyce Marie Leagjeld Olver; sons, Loren Grey (Kimberly) Olver and Dennis John “DJ” (Annie) Olver; daughters, Leanne Denise (Lana) Hall and Tammera Lynnette (Chris) Gunnarson; grandchildren, Katri, Henry, Julianna, Charlie, Lois, Caleb, Jacob, Jeb, Marissa, Jordan and Cady; great grandchildren, Tyson, Ryder and Carmen; and sister, Marty (Dick) Archer. Dennis was preceded in death by his sister, Carol Ann Olver.
