David Ronald Estabrook's Obituary
David Ronald Estabrook
January 23, 1952 - February 22, 2023
Resident of Oregon City, OR
David Ronald Estabrook passed away in Oregon City on February 22, 2023. He was 71-years-old.
Born in Manhattan, Dave grew up as a big brother to Dawn, Yankees fan, merit scholar on the high school debate team, multisport athlete, and singer. If he wasn’t turning double plays at Second Base or running just fast enough to appease his football coaches, he was belting out tunes on the New York bar scene or spontaneously breaking into song during random conversations. Of his many natural gifts, the greatest may have been the gift of gab.
Once it became clear that the Pittsburgh Steelers must have lost his phone number, he embarked on a professional adventure that included golf course caddy, security for bands like the Grateful Dead, and Kinetic Sculpture Race mechanic (an unpaid but nonetheless rewarding position). In his own mind, he was a philosopher king. But his true calling was that of a house painter – where he helped people for 30 years and worked on many fabulous homes. Along the way, he met Michele and created fabulous homes of his own – first in Humboldt, then near Portland.
He was kind, funny, generous, thoughtful, hard-working, selfless, and totally content. He could run hot, but was also quick to remind people, “I’m not yelling – that’s just how people from Jersey talk!” He was a great son, brother, uncle, husband, father, and friend. His distinctive laugh was emblematic of a uniquely original life and will echo through eternity.
