Charles Robert Cloud's Obituary
Charles was born in Detroit, Michigan to parents Jack Leslie Cloud and Janet Evelyn Cloud (nee Sorg). He died peacefully at Ivy Court Senior Living in Milwaukie, Oregon.
He attended grade school in Detroit until the family moved to Troy, Michigan, where he attended middle school and graduated from Troy H.S. He spent two years at Michigan State, then enrolled at Alma College where he attained a degree in mathematics. He worked in the life insurance industry for many years in the actuarial field.
Charles moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1987 where he met his wife, Michelle. They married in 1988 and moved to Gladstone, Oregon in 1992.
Charles was an active member of several fraternal benefit societies and organizations, including Odd Fellows/Rebekahs, Knights of Columbus, and Woodmen of the World Omaha. He served on the Board of Directors for Assured Life Association for many years.
For the past 15 years, he was closely involved with Sleeping Bags for the Homeless, founded by friends Dick and Ann Akins. Together they have supplied thousands of sleeping bags to local shelters and organizations. This cause was near and dear to Charles.
He had a great sense of humor, and he had lots of stories he loved to share. He had a wonderful sense of family and kept in touch with them as well as with long-time friends.
He is survived by his wife of 34 years, Michelle Jeannine Cloud; niece Jaclyn Noelle Dodge; and many cousins.
Rosary at 10:30 a.m. followed by funeral Mass at 11 a.m., Friday, June 9, 2023, at Resurrection Catholic Church, 21060 SW Stafford Rd., Tualatin, OR 97062. (Parking lot entrance on Ek Road.) Reception following in the church hall.
