Carmen Matthew Macdonald's Obituary
Carmen Matthew Macdonald
March 9, 1970 - February 5, 2017
Carmen passed away unexpectedly at his home in West Linn, Oregon on February 5th, 2017. He was a loving husband, father, brother, and friend, and his tragic loss has touched many. He was born on March 9th, 1970 in Norwalk, Connecticut, a beautiful location with vast streams, ponds, and lakes and the ideal place that launched Carmen's lifetime passion of fishing and the outdoors. Early on, he moved with his family to Pennsylvania, Michigan, and California, and always found suitable fishing holes to hone his skills. In 1984, Carmen found his home in Lake Oswego, Oregon. He attended Lake Ridge High School where he played baseball and football, and is noted as the first Freshman baseball player to drive a home run out of the Lake Ridge baseball field. Later, he hit 3 home runs in a single game and achieved a 410 batting average his senior year. Carmen was also a key component of the Lake Ridge High School State Championship Football Team, playing linebacker. After graduating in 1988, Carmen attended Oregon State University where he studied Political Science and received a Bachelor of Arts Degree. Carmen, married Jennifer Robinson in 1999 and they were blessed with 2 children Jackson Thomas, and Kendall Marie.
Remaining in West Linn, Carmen became a pillar in the community, actively promoting his passion for the outdoors. He began his advertising career at Frank Amato Publications, "Salmon, Trout, Steelheader" Magazine, and built a successful advertising and marketing business Vaunt Marketing with his partner, Kris Nelson. His business focus was in the outdoor industry and his clients became lifelong friends. Carmen was always eager to share his passion of fishing and hunting, and his skills and knowledge surpassed most. His kind heart and generous nature were the cornerstone of his character and accomplishments.
As a loving father, Carmen was so proud of his children. He was always sending photos of them at their various activities to his family, and was never happier than spending time with them fishing on the local rivers. His deep love of family, loyalty, and friendship was felt by all. Recently, Carmen, Jackson, and Kendall became members of Athey Creek Christian Fellowship, and said the Prayer of Salvation and accepted Jesus Christ into their lives. Carmen's loss is devastating, but he is in God's loving embrace and his soul is at peace.
Carmen is survived by his wife, Jennifer; Children, Jackson and Kendall; Parents, Robert & Carmelita Macdonald; Siblings, Diana Coleman, Stephen Macdonald, and Robert Macdonald, their spouses and children. Carmen's oldest sister Victoria passed away from Cancer in 2014 in North Carolina. Please pray for his family, his friends, and may God be with them in this difficult time.
A Celebration of Life will be held on February 13th, 2017 at Athey Creek Christian Fellowship at 7:00 PM. 2700 SW Ek Rd. West Linn, OR 97068. In lieu of flowers, the Macdonald family has created a GoFundMe Campaign to provide an educational scholarship for his children, Jackson and Kendall.
