Billie Louise Kampen's Obituary
Billie Louise Kampen, 83, was born in Nashoba, Oklahoma on Sept 3, 1929, to Lester & Oma Gillreath. She passed away peacefully with her son by her side on Oct. 8th, 2012 at Willamette Falls Hospital in Oregon City, OR. Billie was raised in Oklahoma and graduated from Antlers HS in Oklahoma. She married Henry Dorton, who preceded her in death in 1972. They had one son, Leon Dorton, born in 1948. She went on to receive a bachelor's degree in education from San Francisco State College and she enjoyed 32 years as an elementary school teacher in CA schools. In 1973, she married Albert Kampen, who preceded her in death in 2004. After his death, she moved up to Oregon City to live with her son and his wife.She was a member of Rolling Hills Community Church. She loved to spend time reading and studying her Bible and always loved to travel. She spent the last week before she died at the Washington coast. Billie leaves behind her son, Leon Dorton (Judy) of Oregon City; son, Frank Kampen (Jeanne) of Waterford, CA; daughter Geri Kampen of Modesto, CA; granddaughter, Jeanette Johnson of Portland. Also, her sisters, Madge Lisle, Vancouver, WA; Shirley Conner, Hughson, CA; Lesta Huffer, Casco, Maine; Mary Hegel, Modesto, CA; Paula Baird, Roseburg, OR. She was preceded in death by her parents, and 3 brothers and 2 sisters.In lieu of flowers, donations in Billie's name may be made to Portland's Pregnancy Resource Center @ portlandprc.org.Internment will be at Lakewood Memorial Park in Hughson, California.
