Tribute to Alan RichardsonMy cousin Alan Richardson was a man who exuded love to his family. Whenever I was with him, he made me feel like I was so special to him - a trait that he had towards every cousin. His mother died and years later his dad, my uncle, remarried, and he said many times that he did not have a stepfamily; he just had a family of whom he loved and felt privileged to be a part. He enjoyed being an active part of the Richardson clan, too. He sent Christmas cards to all of us with pictures and captions that displayed his family events. He also read a poem at my sister-in-laws memorial service about The Dash. If The Dash was filled in with Alans life, everyone would understand that he lived well as a child of our Lord and Savior. I Corinthians 13 says that nothing we do without love matters. Everything Alan did, demonstrated pure and simple love.I am personally very happy that I was born into the Richardson Clan where we spent every Thanksgiving of my childhood with all of my mothers three brothers, three sisters, their spouses, and all twenty-two cousins as we gathered to celebrate together with great feasts. We were raised with lots of love and blessings!
Growing up, Uncle Allen was always family. My memories of Uncle Allen started when I was very young. I remember riding a motorcycle with him in California when I was a little girl, I remember the tortoise he gave me that we named Suzie. I remember going to his house and playing with Dean in the snow. As an adult he came to our home with my dad and he gave us light in our shed. He was always so eager to help and be kind. Thank you Uncle Allen, I'm going to miss you and think of you often. May the Winds of Heaven Blow Softly And whisper in your ear, How much we love and miss you, And wish That you were here. Until we meet again in Heaven, God Bless you and RIP Uncle Allen.
Allen was a part of many loving memories from our childhood when we played together at family gatherings, from our years as teenagers with drivers licenses, from the many family reunions we attended as adults, and from a special day in Portland several years ago. To Allen's family we extend our deepest condolences on his passing. With love and sympathy, Deanna and Bob Hosler
