Adeline Carol Larson's Obituary
Oregon City - Adeline Carol Larson, a long-time resident of the Oregon City area, died Saturday the 31st of December at Providence Willamette Falls Hospital at the age of 90.
Born July 19th, 1926 in Kulm, North Dakota, Addie (as she was most often called) was the sixth child of Reinhold John Roloff and Emma Louise Isaak, two simple people both of proud Prussian heritage. In 1941 after the Great Depression, the family moved from their farm to Oregon City, where Addie attended Oregon City High School and eventually met her future husband of over fifty years, William "Gene" Larson. Gene went off to serve his country as a marine stationed in The South Pacific during World War Two, and the two exchanged love letters until he returned in 1945. The two were married the following year and had their first child shortly thereafter.
Addie had many jobs over her lifetime, but her favorite career was working for "Code-o-phone" where she tested answering machines by recording messages and playing them back.
Addie loved to cook and bake for her family, and enjoyed watching them eat her meals. She was also fond of bargain hunting, old television shows such as "The Andy Griffith Show", "The Lawrence Welk Show", and "Bonanza", listening to oldies radio stations, and most of all, relaxing on her front porch on a beautiful warm summer afternoon, watching the birds and squirrels and sipping beer from a teacup, as was her custom. Christmas was her favorite holiday, and she would often get into the spirit by pretending to be one of Santa's little elves, named "Peanut".
Addie loved nothing more than her family, and seeing their happiness was her greatest joy. She is survived by her daughter Carol Jean Larson (69) and son Timothy Jay Larson (64) as well as four Grandchildren: Noelle Molina (30), Stephanie Blackburn (28), Adam Trepanier (26) and Adrian Larson (25). She also left behind two young great-grandsons: Isaac Blackburn (5) and Ryan Blackburn (2 1/2). Although her body may be gone, her spirit lives on in the lives of those whose hearts she touched. Her story will certainly be celebrated and cherished for many more generations to come.
Funeral services will be held at Willamette National Cemetery on Thursday, January 19, 2017 at 1:30 pm.
