Obituary

James Edward Schumaker July 16, 1957 - May 24, 2020

Jim Schumaker passed away May 24, 2020, after a brief battle with cancer, at the home in Gladstone that he shared with his brother Bill.

Jim was born in Albany, OR, but soon moved to West Linn. At age 11 the family moved to Oregon City and he, like his brothers, attended Oregon City schools and graduated from OCHS. Jim had many friends, traveled extensively while in the army, and continued to enjoy an active life until a stroke slowed him at age 50. He had a great sense of humor, which never faded even in tough times.

Jim is survived by his sons, James Helou and Jason Helou (Brittany) and grandson (Clayton), and his boys’ aunt Julie Parrish (Mark). In this world Jim loved nothing so much as his family and his boys gave him great joy. He is also survived by his mother, Audrey, three brothers, Bill (gf Gale), Dan (Megan), Ted (Karla), and five nieces. He was predeceased by his father William in 1999.

Jim appreciated the care and kindness shown by care providers at the Portland VA these past few months. He will be interred at Willamette National Cemetery.  Arrangements by Holman-Hankins-Bowker &Waud.
