Stanley Duane Strain

October 9, 1930 - July 24, 2018

Stanley Duane Strain passed away peacefully in his sleep on Tuesday, July 24th. Stan was born on October 9th, 1930 in Huntington Oregon to Joseph Allen Strain and Elsie Mae Ping. Stan was the second of three sons: Kenneth of West Covina California (deceased) and Robert of Gladstone Oregon. Stan is survived by his brother, Robert; sons Steven & Martin Runyon; three grandchildren, Marti (Husband Jeremy), Scott & Tyler and one great granddaughter, Libby.   Stan was raised in LaCrosse Washington and Oregon City Oregon. He graduated from Oregon City High School in 1948. Stan played on the OCHS football and Track teams while he attended Oregon City High School.    After high school, Stan joined the US Army and was stationed in Germany during the Korean War. Stan was a PGE employee for over 30 years and worked at the SE Portland location and also the Oregon City location as the Storeroom Manager. In the late 50's Stanley met Barbara Helbig. They were married in July of 1958 and remained married until Barbara's death in 2006. Stan retired from PGE in the early 90's. He was an avid golfer for over 30 years and was a member of Arrowhead Golf Club. Stanley was also a Life-member of the Oregon City Elks Lodge.   Funeral Service will be held at Mt. View Cemetary in Oregon City on Tuesday, August 14, at 10:00 AM.  A wake will be held at High Rocks Pub in Gladstone following the service. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society OR https://donate3.cancer.org/?lang=en&_ga=2.130261263.1267856451.1533537330-2068692511.1533537330
