Raymond Dean Schoonover

November 13, 1939 - October 11, 2012

Raymond Dean Schoonover died on October 11, 2012 at his home in Oregon City at the age of 72. He was born Nehalem, Oregon. He spent his early years in Butteville, moving to Heppner as a teen where he graduated from Lexington High School in 1957. As a young adult he ventured to Montana where he met his wife, Mary. They moved to Oregon City in the summer of 1974, where they raised their two daughters. Ray turned his love of all things mechanical into a 30 year career as a highly skilled mechanic, retiring in 2002. Ray loved spending time with Mary on their Harley, touring many states and going on poker runs with many friends. He also loved to attend the sporting events of his grandkids, spending time on the computer and reading. He is survived by; his wife of 45 years, Mary; his daughter and son-in-law Violet and Allen Stephenson; daughter and son-in-law Jo Anne and Matt Moody; grandchildren Kenny Stephenson, Matthew Stephenson and his wife Shelly Stephenson, Danny Stephenson, Destiny Moody and Devin Moody. He was preceded in death by his son Cody Schoonover and his grandson Darien Moody.A funeral service was held on Monday October, 15 at 1pm.
