Mary Francis Olson

April 29, 1949 - May 10, 2014

Mary F. (Kruger) Olson, 65, passed away on May 10, 2014 at her home in Oregon City after a courageous battle with cancer. Mary was born in Salem, Oregon on April 29, 1949 to William P. and Violet J. Kruger, the third of seven children. She graduated in 1967 from Serra Catholic High School and attended Oregon State University. Mary began her career with US Bank in Portland in 1971 as a teller and left in 1990 as a vice-president in corporate banking. 1991-present, Mary was co-founder and president of Norris Olson & Associates. She served as a commissioner for the Port of Portland, 2001-2011. Mary was appointed to the Oregon Department of Transportation Commission, 2010-2013.Mary was an avid supporter of OSU athletics and enjoyed rooting on the Beavs with her tailgate gang. In addition, Mary was an avid golfer, gardener and social director at her Black Butte home. She was a former board member of Willamette Valley Country Club.Mary is survived by her son, Brent, step-daughter Natanee, her sisters: Janet Klosterman, Susan Wilson, Elaine Young, Judy Jacobs and Teresa Brown. She was pre-deceased by her parents and brother, Bill Kruger.Mary's family would like to extend their gratitude to Providence Hospice for all their care support of Mary and her family during her illness.Contributions in Mary's memory may be made to the Rita McGrath Science Scholarship at La Salle High School.
