Lorraine House Round

Lorraine H. Round of Milwaukie , Oregon, died on  May 13, 2016. Born Marie Lorraine House on September 17, 1920 in Tacoma, Washington, little Lorraine quickly became the center of attention-and affection--due to her constant happy nature and cherubic smile.   After losing her beloved mother, "Honey," to an untimely death, Lorraine was raised by her father until enrolling in a private High School, where she enjoyed some of the happiest times of her young life. She met and married "Art" (Harry Arthur) Round and together raised a family from their Oregon residences in Myrtle Creek, Lake Oswego and North Bend, and retiring in Wilsonville. Lorraine loved to garden and as observed by her children, "wasn't happy unless she was outside pruning, tending or moving plants." She filled the home with fresh flowers and enjoyed seasonal decorating, especially Christmas. She enjoyed the numerous boat and camping trips with her young family and upon retirement, she and husband Art indulged their love of travel, the highlight of which was a tour of Switzerland. One of Lorraine's distinctive gifts was her ability to make others feel welcome in the home and the expression of unbounded enthusiasm for her children after their extended absences from military, educational or career obligations. She loved her children and always found a way to smile, encourage  and maintain a positive attitude in spite of any personal difficulties or challenges she may have been facing. Lorraine was preceded in death by husband Art and is survived by twin daughters Cindy Maeda and Judy Horenstein , sons Jerry and Scott; daughter-in-law Kathy and sons-in-law Larry and David; Grandsons Christopher and Andrew and granddaughter-in-law, Kayla Looney; and stepsisters Marilyn Pewitt and Barbara Lienhard.
