Karen Joann Brown

August 8, 1942 - April 16, 2016

Karen Joann Brown, 73, died Saturday, April 16th, at her home, surrounded by family. Karen was born on August 8,1942, in Silverton, Oregon, to Hugo and Agnes Boehmer. She married her husband Gene on November 4, 1961 and together they raised 5 children. Karen's talents were many. She loved tending to her garden, playing the piano, painting with her friends, and most of all, spending time with her family. Together, Karen and Gene enjoyed travelling with family, or to visit them. They frequented Alaska and Hawaii, and toured various other countries, including a trip to Russia this past fall. Karen was an active member of her parish, St. Philip Benizi, where she volunteered many hours for various needs. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Gene Brown; her children, Derek Brown and wife Kristi, Stephanie Dodge and husband Joe, Sean Brown and wife Melissa, Heidi Creighton and husband Jon, Steve Brown and wife Dana; 13 grandchildren, and one great grandchild; her sisters, Jan Erickson, Joyce Etzel and Louann Rohse; along with many nieces and nephews. Karen was loved by all who knew her for her gentle, loving ways. A Catholic Mass will be held in her honor at 11am on Saturday, April 23rd at St. Philip Benizi in Redland, Oregon
