Dr. Ernest Aaron Lane

Dr. Ernest Aaron Lane died on April 8, 2014, from complications after surgery. Dr. Lane was born on March 25, 1929, in Spokane, Washington to Rebecca and Oscar Silverstein. Both of his parents died before he was six months old and he was adopted by Henry and Margaret Levy and spent his childhood and adolescence in Chicago, Illinois. In 1953 he legally changed his last name to Lane. When he was 17, Dr. Lane enlisted in the U.S. Army and was promoted to staff sergeant in the 32nd Infantry Division. During that time he was stationed in Japan. Dr. Lane graduated from the University of Illinois, College of Medicine in 1955. He completed his internship at St. Vincent's Hospital, Portland, Oregon. He began his career in private practice in Silverton, Oregon, then joining a medical partnership in Oregon City, Oregon. He completed his career on the staff of Kaiser Permanente where he retired in 1989. During his medical career he participated in medical missionary projects. In 1962 he spent one year with CARE-Medico in Kuala Lipis, Malysia. In 1985 he joined another Kaiser physician in a Baptist medical mission in Mdingo, Cameroon. Dr. Lane is survived by his wife Leah; they were married on April 19, 1998, in Milwaukie, Oregon. He is also survived by six step-children: Gary Tudor (Danielle), Randy Tudor (Jenny), Darrell Lane (Janice), Kimberley Kaiser-Collins (Bob), Brian Kaiser, and Steven Kaiser (Denise). He leaves 10 grand-children and two great-grandchildren. ****A memorial service will be held April 26, 2014, 4:00 a.m., at Clarkes United Methodist Church, 17294 S. Windy City Rd, Mulino, Oregon.
