Donald Homer Blackwell
September 2, 1958 - December 6, 2021
Donald Homer Blackwell was born on September 22, 1958, in Merced, California. He passed away peacefully in his home on December 6, 2021. Donnie was 63 years old. Donnie was raised in the wilderness of Haines, Alaska and has been living in the Portland area since 1991. Don was inspired by music, nature, everyday life, and beauty. He truly valued the human connection and lived by his motto: "Strength, Courage, and Kindness." Don is survived by his spouse, Virgil, stepdaughter Mindy Gonzales, and son Eric Gonzales, ten grandchildren, two nephews: Kenneth and Michael, and a niece Sharlyn. A gathering of friends and family will be held later this Spring. "When I come to the end of the day and the sun has set for me, I want no rites in a gloom filled room. Why cry for a soul set free? Miss me a little, but not too long and not with your head bowed low. Remember the love we shred, miss me, but let me go. For this is a journey we all must take, and each must go alone. It's all of the Maker's plan, a step on the road to home. Miss me but let me go."
