VIRGINIA JOHANNA "GIN" MILLER
Virginia Johanna Miller born January 6, 1922 passed away on June 28, 2017 with family present at Blessed Trinity Foster Home in Oregon City, OR at the age of 95.
Virginia was born to Tony and Mary (Druffel) Reisenauer in Colton, WA She attended the 1893 built Oenning School, a one room school house where 7 to 12 students attended. She graduated from Colton High School in 1939 and left the farm to continue her education earning a Bachelor of Arts in Education from Holy Names College, Spokane, WA 1945. Her first teaching job began with a 6th grade class in Davenport, WA in 1945. That year she met Donald "Don" Miller on a blind date. They were married in Colton, WA on June 19, 1948. Together they had three children. They lived in the Spokane Valley for a number of years where she taught school at St. John Vianney, in Dishman, then moved to Phoenix, AZ for a short time, then to Portland, OR, back to Spokane and finally residing in Oregon City, OR
Virginia was a teacher and Principal at the two room Beaver Lake Grade School (Molalla School District) where she taught grades first through fourth. When the school closed she taught at Butte Creek, Schubel and retired from Carus School in 1978. Teaching for 22 years. In 1977 they built, owned and operated Fir Street Mini Storage in Oregon City which her sons continue to operate. Virginia and Don retired and moved to Beavercreek in 1978. Her husband Don died in 1981.
Gin loved gardening, raising vegetables, and herbs that she used in her cooking. She baked wonderful fruit pies and enjoyed making applesauce and rhubarb sauce for her family. She was an avid reader and loved to travel, visiting Europe, the United States by motor home with her son Tim, and many trips to warmer weather in Las Vegas, NV. Gin loved staying on top of current events, happenings and most of all spending time with family.
Gin is survived by her three children; Tom (Jeanne) Miller of Beavercreek, Connie (Dave) Heintz of Culver, Tim Miller of Beavercreek; five grandchildren, Travis, Ryan, David, Blair, Jolene; 6 great grandchildren, Derek, Dawson, Brody, Lilah, Elden, Emma; one sister Jan Kramer of Colton, WA
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Ray Reisenauer, Jerome Reisenauer, her sisters Rita Grassl, and Ange Wittman.
Rosary service will be at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at St. John The Apostle Catholic Church, Oregon City on July 28, 2017 at 11:00 a.m.
A reception will follow the service.
