Marion Faye Kellum (Akins) passed away peacefully at Oatfield Estates on Thursday, October 25, 2018, at the age of 93.
She is survived by her children, Marianne (Phil) Richardson, Palmer (Mary) Kellum, three grandchildren, Alex, Amanda and Jared, as well as three great grandchildren, Jillian, Alexandra and Arya. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harrison, and three siblings Sarah, Hilda, and Dick.
Marion was born on December 17, 1924 in Statesboro, Georgia to Pleasant and Pearl Akins. She attended secondary school after high school and met Harrison while working as a secretary for the Army Air Corps. After completing military service, they moved to Oregon where they opened a car dealership and started a family. Marion helped run the dealership and was a Datsun dealer for over 20 years.
Her hobbies included bridge, golf and world travel. Her passion for education led to sponsoring scholarships at two colleges. Marion also loved entertaining and gardening. She was a member of PTO for 50 years and a dedicated member of St. John’s Episcopal Church.
A funeral is scheduled for November 17th at 11:00am at St. John’s Episcopal Church in Milwaukie, Oregon, with a reception to follow. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Marion's life.
