Lynne D Larson
Lynne passed away peacefully in her home on December 25, 2019.She was a beloved Mother, Nana, Dog Lover, Educator, Rotarian, and friend to all. Lynne retired as the Director of Education from the North Clackamas School District in 2002. After retirement, Lynne continued as an active member of the Lake Oswego Rotary Club, as well as her participation and dedication to other community service and volunteer opportunities that helped those within the community. She supported Friends of the Lake Oswego Library and the Humane Society as well as other organizations. She thrived on helping others, kindness permeated from her at all times with abundant smiles and laughter. Her view on life allowed her to find joy in everything.
Lynne was always excited about spending time with family. She also enjoyed traveling and visiting other countries with her favorite being Oaxaca, Mexico, China, Belize, as well as going to Africa and climbing Mt Kilimanjaro. Here at home she enjoyed the Oregon Coast and Mt Hood which she also climbed several times. Lynne was a life-long Scrabble enthusiast, amateur photographer, and book lover, and she enjoyed each day to its fullest. As leisurely fun she played Word Games and Scrabble, and daily walks and movies with friends. Lynne also enjoyed cooking and baking. Her collection of recipes is vast and displayed readily for everyone to view on her kitchen counter. She loved whip cream and was noted to say that “Everything was better with whip cream on it.”
Lynne was born in Port Arthur, Ontario, Canada on May 12, 1942 to parents, Fern Devona Larson and Norman Lyle Larson.She is survived by her two children Julie Pickett and Gary Hamman as well as her sister, Norma Jean Larson. Julie lives in Pleasant Hill, California with her husband Sean and their son Sam. Gary and his wife Diane, and their two children, Josh and Sarah,live in Oregon City, Oregon. Lynne was a member of Our Lady of the Lake Catholic Church in Lake Oswego, where her service will be held at 11:00am on Saturday, January 4, 2020, with the reception to follow.
