Mr. Glynn Allen McGavock, 83, of Oregon City, Ore., died Dec. 12, 2019, at his home.
Born Aug. 29, 1936, in Gallatin, he graduated from Giles County High School in 1955. He enjoyed a variety of sports, especially hunting, golfing, fishing, football and baseball. He loved collecting coins and memorabilia. In his early years, he worked in the grocery business. He was always implementing new ideas. During the 80s, he owned and operated video stores. Later, he started a company that produced movies. His hobbies centered around old B western cowboy movies; he collected hundreds of western movie posters. He loved to barter and trade and make great deals. He was a very likeable person, a jokester, a magician, always funny and entertaining. He was genuinely interested in people, and had a strong testimony of Christ which he shared readily. He served a senior mission in Nashville from 2005-06. He will be remembered most for his love of family and his commitment to his friends and church. He is preceded in death by parents, Vallie and Walter McGavock.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 21, at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Oregon City.
Survivors include wife Charlotte of Oregon City; sister Martha Gale Russell of Pulaski; brother George Dale McGavock of Pulaski; daughter Stephanie Huntley and husband Doug of Pulaski; sons, Mark McGavock of Elkmont, Ala., Aaron McGavock and wife Patsy of Orangevale, Calfi., James McGavock and wife Shana of Roseville, Calif.; 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
