It is with heavy hearts that the family of Glenn Ray Hodgkinson announce his passing on Monday, April 1, 2019 at the age of 85.
Glenn Ray Hodgkinson was born on December 31, 1933 in Oregon City, Oregon to Walter and Eloise (Singleterry) Hodgkinson. After high school Glenn joined the United States Army and was stationed in post WWII Europe. After returning home, he completed the electrician program for IBEW #48 whom he worked for until his retirement in 1995.
Glenn married Phylis Rautenberg, the love of his life in 1963. They raised three sons, David, Brian, and Walter. While raising his boys, Glenn served as a Scoutmaster with the Boy Scouts of America. He enjoyed traveling, from his time in the service, and throughout his life. Some of the places he took his grandchildren included: Washington DC, Hawaii, Arizona, and Alaska. He remained active in the IBEW #48 retirement community participating in monthly luncheons and yearly events at Oaks Park.
Glenn was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Phylis. He is survived by his three sons: David Hodgkinson of Milwaukie, Brian Hodgkinson (Beth) of Molalla, Walter Hodgkinson (Beth) of Oregon City; five grandchildren; Jacob Hodgkinson (Ashlee), Brianna Shirley (Jon), Sara Hodgkinson, Ivy Hodgkinson, Brittany Hodgkinson; and one great grandchild, Brayden Ray Shirley; his brothers Jim Hodgkinson and Ralph Hodgkinson, both of Oregon City; sisters in law, Jan Reed and husband Fred, Melanie Wheeler, Linda Leininger and husband Ben, and numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 9th, 2019 at Willamette National Cemetery at 1:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the American Diabetes Association.
