Dorothy Ann Cole was born on February 21, 1939 in Oregon City, Oregon. She was the third born of seven children. Her parents Nettie Stewart and Warren Reynolds, brothers Howard and Harold, sister Ione, all preceded her in death. She is survived by her sister Joann and brothers Lee and Fred. In 1956, Dorothy Reynolds married Gerald G. Zimmerman, they were blessed with four boys: little Jerry, Randy, Brad, and Mark. Jerry passed away in 1972. In 1974, Dorothy married Leon L. Cole. She was blessed again with three more children that she loved and treated as her own: David, Danny, and Julie Cole. She has 10 grandchildren and 10 great- grandchildren. Dorothy truly loved all her family, equally, and unconditionally.
Dorothy worked over 40 years at Associated Chemist, Inc. (ACI) Her dedication to work was second to none. Dorothy was so successful that during the last five years of her employment she was transferred to South Carolina to restructure their chemical plant. This was quite an honor and a true testimony to her character and dedication.
Dorothy enjoyed working out, participating in water aerobics, and loved to play golf with her husband Leon. Her life was so structured that you could set your clock by her Saturday morning routine which included her weekly hair appointment. She especially enjoyed family trips to the Oregon Coast, where she loved searching for glass floats, eating brunch and gambling at the Casino.
This past year, Dorothy and Leon both moved into the Oatfield Estates to enhance their quality of life with group activities, outings, and compassionate care. Just a few weeks before she passed Dorothy was awarded resident of the month for July 2018, which is a true testament to her positive attitude and outlook on life. What a fitting final tribute to Dorothy and her passion for life. Dorothy is loved and will be missed by all her family and friends.
