Debbie Thorsen Haroun, age 67, died peacefully at home the evening of Tuesday, July 17, 2018, after a 17 year battle against ovarian cancer. Debbie is survived by her husband of 32 years, Larry; daughter, Erin (27); son, Joe (25); brother, Craig Thorsen (Marty); and sister, Sharon Morgan (Martin). Debbie was born to Gene and Violet Thorsen April 28,1951 in Portland. Debbie attended Oregon State University where she majored in speech communications. After receiving her masters in Speech Pathology from Portland State University, she had a long career with Portland Public Schools, retiring in 2006. Many people have commented that Debbie did more in her shortened life than most people do in a lifetime. She loved to travel, belonged to two book clubs, two MG car clubs, had hiking companions and was still active with a group of retired teachers. She lived and loved life to the fullest. However, her greatest love was her family. Her happiest moments were the arrival of her children. Debbie will be remembered as one of the most loving and caring persons that one could have as a friend. Her Celebration of Life will be held from 1 - 4 p.m ., Sept. 6, 2018, at McMenamins Edgefield Blackberry Hall. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to: clearityfoundation.org/support/donate/
