James Marion Nutt

M. James Nutt 'Jim', 88, passed away Thursday, July 11, 2019 at his home in Gladstone, Oregon with his wife Barbara by his side. Jim was born June 23,1931 to Guy Nutt and Mildred (James) Nutt in Wilderville Oregon, the 3rd of 7 children. He graduated from Oregon City High School in 1950. Jim served as a supply clerk in Germany during the Korean War. In 1951 he began a career of over 40 years working at Crown Zellerbach paper mill in West Linn Oregon. He was a master paper maker and was asked to return three times as a consultant after retiring in 1989. Jim was a hard worker and always busy, he was an active member of the Elks Lodge, he regularly bowled, volunteered to serve the community, and served breakfast at the Elks for decades. Jim was also an avid golfer to the end, he would golf any chance he got and loved golfing with Richard and Diana in his later years. He was a master at home maintenance and could build or fix anything. He grew the first and best tomatoes every summer! Jim and Barb enjoyed trips to the beach and around Oregon and Washington. Jim was steadfast, he treated everyone with respect and was a wonderful Dad and Grandpa, treating his step children as his own. Jim was a quiet private man with a huge heart and didn't like to be the center of attention, he was loved very much and will be greatly missed. Jim is survived by his wife of 50 years, Barbara; daughters, Diana (Nutt) High and Marilyn (Little) Erdmann; sons Don Nutt and Greg Little. grandchildren, Cheri Ritchie, Ryan Rummel, Brandon Little, Zach Little, Jared Erdmann, Nathan Erdmann, Jimmy Nutt, Curtis Nutt, Kristina Jobbins, and Heidi Lowry; 12 great grandchildren & 4 great great; sister, Thelma Josi; brother, Hank Nutt; numerous cousins, nieces, and nephews. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, sister Vera, brothers Glen, Kenny and Elmer; sons Doug Nutt and Steve Little; grandsons Chris Rummel and Matthew Little. Jim was interned at Willamette National Cemetery. Memorials are private for his family. The family has sincere gratitude for the wonderful people at Providence Hospice and the Marquis team.
