Blake Matthew Bartley

June 14, 1969 ~ March 2, 2018 (age 48)

Blake Matthew Bartley, of West Linn, Oregon, passed peacefully at home on March 2, 2018 after a 16 month struggle with brain cancer. Blake was born on June 14, 1969, in Oregon City, Oregon, and graduated from Oregon City High School in 1987. He went to work for PGE in 1990 starting as a groundskeeper and eventually moving to the line department starting as a ground crew member and then becoming a truck driver. Blake earned his apprenticeship in 1997 and worked hard to become a journeyman lineman. In his last several years he became a line foreman and even spent time working as a general foreman. Blake truly loved his job and worked tirelessly at it, putting in hours of overtime and especially loving the “golden days”.

Blake and Nancy first met as freshmen in high school. Their friendship developed and continued until 1997 when they first began dating. They were married on August 4, 2001. Blake and Nancy had two sons: Chase and Carter. Blake was devoted to his family and worked hard both at home and at work to provide the very best for them. Pets were always an important part of the family. Blake had many cats over the years. He was excited to bring home kittens, Cleo and Papi, for the boys. He loved and was also devoted to his German Shorthairs, River and Rico. Blake was especially fond of Harper, the Boston Terrier he constantly snuggled and slept with throughout his illness.

Blake as a lover of the outdoors. Camping and backpacking were favorite family activities of Blake’s. He took up salmon fishing on the Willamette River as a young boy and spent much of his life waiting to feel the bite. He enjoyed fishing for all sorts of fish: shad, steelhead, salmon, sturgeon, bass, trout, and tuna.  However, he especially loved fishing for salmon and namely spring chinook. Blake loved to hunt. His hunting pursuits included deer, elk, bear, big-horn sheep, antelope, and pheasant. Blake loved taking his bird dogs pheasant hunting in Eastern Oregon. He was an amazing and gifted bow hunter, spending each September going after monster bulls all over the western states. Blake leaves behind an enormous collection of heads, sheds, and horns.

Blake is survived by his parents Bob and Pat Bartley and his sisters Paige Bartley and Stacy Bartley. Blake is lovingly remembered by his wife Nancy VonSeggern Bartley and their two sons, Chase (17) and Carter (15).
